Inspired Fridays #8: Activity Book Bag

This weekly meme is hosted by Inkk Reviews. You can read more about it here.

First of all, I need to tell that no, I don’t have kids. Secondly, I’m the oldest daughter of a big family, so I ended up taking care of the little ones while I was growing up, specially during my teen years. An activity book bag like this one would be a gift sent from heaven at the time, when we didn’t have all the hardware entertainment we have for kids these days. Plus, it looks so cute!! It’s a great DIY idea to upcycle old hardcovers.

I also must tell you that I LOVE to draw/paint, so when I saw this little book/bag I thought it might look good if I rearrange it to fit my drawing notebook and my pencils and brushes. If I manage to come around my inability to butcher books with a scissors and do this sort of thing myself, I’ll post some pictures of the final result. 🙂

You can find a complete tutorial with photos for this activity book at Cosmo Cricket.

Inspired Fridays #6: Bread Box Charging Station

This weekly meme is hosted by Inkk Reviews. You can read more about it here.

I don’t know about you, but I have a major problem with chargers. I don’t know how I do it, but I always manage to lose them, break them, and even twist the cables in such a way that the task of untwisting them can drive just about anyone completely insane. You can imagine how I felt when I saw this little charging station that could spare me so much trouble. *(and now I’ll break my rule and bring my tumbler self to this reading corner, because sometimes you can only accurately express emotion with gifs)*

Praise to the people who invented this! I’m definitely going to try to make one, or get one if I can’t find a way to handmade it myself. Instructions for this DIY project can be found here. (via Apartment Therapy)

Inspired Fridays #4: Wooden Letters

This weekly meme is hosted by Inkk Reviews. You can read more about it here.

Aren’t these Wooden Letters Decor amazing? They would look amazing in a city apartment mixed with some upcycled furniture. Plus, they can be used as bookshelves! I would like to have a set of these letters saying ‘book lover’. I would place them in the floor of the entrance or living room/kitchen wall. What about you? Found via WE Archdesign.

Inspired Fridays #3: Paper Art

This weekly meme is hosted by Inkk Reviews. You can read more about it here.

This week I was inspired by Mandy Smith paper art and I couldn’t resist sharing my new discovery with you. Just take a look at the photos below. Is that amazing or what? It’s all paper! Look carefully to all the tiny little details. I have worked with paper before and it is really hard to create this amount of detail and perfection. Well done Ms. Smith! More pics and videos here.

Inspired Fridays #2: Book Planters

This weekly meme is hosted by Inkk Reviews. You can read more about it here.

I’m not much of a gardener, but I love flowers and the idea that when I have a little place of my own (and a little more time), I will dedicate some time to gardening activities. I have always wanted to try this one. It’s a good way to upcycle old books that had been ruined by water damage. We can turn them into planters! Found via The Violet Hours.

Inspired Fridays #1: Bookmark Lamp

You probably don’t know this, but I am as passionate about arts & crafts, as I am about books & reading. Inkk Reviews is hosting a weekly meme that combines the love of crafting with the love of books and I decided to take part in it. You can read more about it here.

You don’t have to actually craft anything “be inspired”. Just show something you maybe have done, want to try, or even a cool looking book nook or library. Whatever inspires you!

How awesome is this!? I would love to have one of these in my living room, near my sofa. Clean, minimalistic, sort of retro design. Probably wouldn’t work so well, because I always carry two books everywhere I go… but still!! Perfect light with a little hanger that works as bookmark while you stop for a while to answer the door, or whatever interrupts your reading. Don’t think I could handmade this one, though…
